Names graphic

Here's an interesting web graphic to do with the popularity of US baby names over the past 50 or so years. Sadly, Michael (which was the #1 boys name for about 30 or 40 years through 2000) has fallen to #2 behind Jacob in 2004.

Hey, that is the applet I was trying to remember for Niamh the other day. Thanks for finding a link to it again. How did you use it to find the most popular name a given time? I think that one of the more interesting things is that "Minnie" was the sixth most popular girls name in 1880. Amazing how much things can change.

I'm not sure how you use it to find a ranking of the names at a given time. It took me a while to scroll up and down to find Jacob as being ranked #1 in 2004.
